Hey Guys! Here are a few updates for the next couple weeks.
1) DECA Appreciation Movie NIght: We will be watching The Founder on Friday, November 30 at 7:00pm in the PAC. It is rated PG-13, runs 115 minutes and stars Michael Keaton. 88% of Google Users liked it and the movie scored an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. There may be snacks available for purchase and some surprises for those who attend. Hope to see you guys there! 2) WA's Holiday Bazaar is on Saturday, 12/1 from 8:00am - 3:00pm. The DECA club is looking for volunteers to man our table. We are not selling anything this year. We are decorating our tables in holiday splendor to solidify our school presence. We may even project NEO questions to those passing by. Our volunteers are needed for 1-hour shifts. Support your club and hang out for a bit. Let Mr. Rogers know if there's an hour you can do. 3) DECA Districts Testing: The schedule has been attached to this post and also sent to your email. Also check your emails for some important reminder about testing. Don't forget to keep practicing with NEO questions and Good Luck!! 4)Mock Role Plays: Taking place this Wednesday (11/28) and Thursday (11/29). MOVIE NIGHT, November 30 Yes our officers have organized a movie night. We will be watching "The Founder" in the PAC at 7:00 PM. Come join us. And as always, if you have any questions feel free to comment or use the contact us form. Thanks, Your Webmasters Hey everybody,
If you got Mr. Rogers email then this should be a recap. If you did not get this email please talk to Mr.Rogers as these emails have a lot of important information about DECA. 1. Sign up for NEO and Schoology. These sites have everything you need to know for DECA and will help you reach states and even help you go to ICDC in Orlando this year. 2. Training class will continue this week with two of our DECA officers. I know it seems as only freshmen attend but these classes are extremely helpful to upperclassman alspo. 3. The yearbook photo is on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7 at 2PM. You are not required to come but you most certainly should to show your DECA spirit! 4. CHOOSE AN EVENT, districts is coming near and you can't compete if you don't have an event. So if you haven't already, please choose an event. As always, if you have any questions you can always comment on this post or email the advisors. Have a nice day and try to remember that we have a three day weekend next week. Thanks, Your Webmasters Hey everybody!
We are your new Webmasters! We will try to update the website every week and if you ever need to know what's going on this is the place to go! If you ever have questions you can either comment or ask us (Aastha G. and Paru S.) in person. For now, just keep practicing NEO and going to Training Classes. Districts will be here sooner than you think! Thanks, Aastha and Paru, Your Webmasters I'd suggest printing this out and bring with you on our Field Trip.
District Role Plays are only 2 days away!!! Testing went extremely well; only a couple minor issues, which we were able to correct. Thank you to all of the Proctors who helped out each day. Special thanks to Abby Walsh who organized the whole thing. Field Trip Wednesday, 1/11: Arrive at WA dressed for success! (Everyone was emailed dress code.) Meet at Bell Lobby 7:00 - 7:15; find your table and check-in for attendance. DECA Officer will give you an assigned bus #, name badge/ID, and your role play's schedule time. Sit in PAC until buses come. Do not hang out in Lobby or wander around. Administration will take notice. You will NOT go to 1st block class. All of your teachers have been notified. You are responsible for any missed classwork. We’ll load buses one at a time, as they arrive. What to Bring?
When we arrive at UMass Lowell (UML): We all walk to the Rec. Center's basketball area (Court #1). This is the Holding Area for everyone to wait for their role play. You are not there to play! Leave all Rec. Center materials alone and be respectful of our host (ULowell) and its facilities. Sit in the bleachers, hang out with your friends, play with your phones, and wait for your role play. Note: you must arrive at your role play location 20 minutes early. Pay attention to the time, because YOU are responsible for this. Don't be disqualified. Locations:
Coats, Jackets, Purses, and Backpacks: Keep them with you always. There are no secure areas to store them. Bring to role play and put them aside as you go in. Done with role play? Head back to the Rec. Center (Court 1). Sit in bleachers with friends. Wait for Lunch. Lunch: UML is providing us a "Box Lunch". For lunch, Courts 1, 2, & 3 will be available to us with tables. Food Allergies: I have passed along our student's individual health concerns (not preferences) and the UML rep said, "there are no problems at all with the sandwiches for our kids, but the cookies are purchased for them and are pre-wrapped. Even though the University has not had an issue with this, they cannot guarantee that in production there wasn't cross-contamination. If you have a food health concern, I would suggest you skip the cookie. Maybe trade it to a friend for something else. Campus Tours: UML has been gracious enough to schedul tours of the East Campus (buildings around us) throughout the day for when our kids have down time. This is a MANDATORY ACTIVITY. When you are not doing anything and just hanging in the Rec. Center (before or after role play), join one of the brief tours. Everyone must attend one of the tours. Awards Session – follow lunch (location TBD). Called up on stage means you qualified for States. Dismissal -Leave on the same bus you arrived in. Buses are scheduled to pick us up at the end of our Awards Ceremony, which is estimated to be around 3:00pm. I cannot guarantee an arrival time back to WA. If you are concerned about meeting an appointment of some kind, you can have your parent pick you up. I must have a confirmation email from your parent about this or you don't leave. This is an official WA field trip. You are representing your school, WA DECA and the Westford Community. Take pride in your appearance, behavior, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. Applaud the other schools even if they do not applaud for us. Rise above and be the best in all these aspects. If you get called up on stage for an award, you’ve qualified for States! Congratulations (in advance). Pick up a State Competition handout (with dates/details) on Friday in Mr. Rogers’ classroom (201). Over the weekend, decide with your parents if you can go to Boston with us. The advisors need an answer of YES or NO by Monday, end of school. Countdown:

We will assign each member their test day before the Winter Holidays. Before then, each member must check with their coaches and parents to clear their schedule for these days. Any conflicts must communicate with me asap. Miss your testing day and you will be disqualified. The whole District is testing during this week. This gives you plenty of time to prepare for the exam part of your competition and to free-up your schedule.
Districts Role Play Field Trip: Wednesday, January 11 at UMass Lowell. We leave at 7:30am from WA and return back around 2:00pm. More details to come. This is the final part of your 1st competition. Club Fundraiser: Westford's Rangoli Grill is hosting a night for our club on Thursday, November 17th from 4-8pm. We receive a percentage of the proceeds of food sold during this timeframe (take-out or dine-in) if patrons mention the DECAclub or show the flyer (attached to email). This fundraiser will help defray the costs of travel to our competitions. Come on down, enjoy some great food, and help out our club. Selfie Contest Winners: CONGRATULATIONS to sophomore Jenny Park and senior Kelliann Cooper who each won a $50 gift. Thank you to all who participated. Maybe we'll have another contest later. T-shirts: Some of you still have not picked up your free, club t-shirts from me. This is your last chance. Very soon I will start selling them to anyone interested until they are gone. Training Classes: We are now learning how to compete in a role play. We've had some very productive classes already. We will do a different role play every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Come to as many as you can. They run from 2:00 - 2:30pm. The more you do, the better you'll do at competition. Next Week: I will send each of you an online Comprehensive Consent Form in Google Docs that you and your parents need to sign and submit. It will include DECA's Conduct Rules and Dress Code for competition field trips. You cannot go to DECA competitions unless you submit this form to me. |
